Taekwondo

The Taekwondo Academy was founded in 1998 by 5th Dan Head Instructor Allan Malachowski .  Taekwondo is a fun and rewarding way for the entire family to keep fit and healthy and is practiced daily by over 80 Million people worldwide.  The benefits of   Taekwondo will help to improve confidence, learn respect for yourself and others and importantly have a lot of fun.  At the Academy we have a number of separate programs to suit your age and ability.

PeeWee Kwondo 3 & 4 Years
At this young age it is important to give children a safe, friendly, fun and exciting introduction to keeping fit.  This program focuses on improving fine motor skills (co-ordination), street smarts (stranger danger) and of course self defence skills.  With lots of encouragement, smiles and motivational messages the classes are full of activities that engage our members ensuring they sleep well and want to come back again and again.

Little Champions 5 to 8 Years
At this age level children have started learning more about themselves.  Their needs and stimulations change and they start to challenge both themselves and others around them.  It is here we start developing the children's broader       techniques and introduce them to the more disciplined side of martial arts training.  Here the students experience the non physical benefits of martial arts training with improved concentration and   mental awareness, a physical increase in class performance as well as advancing their technical self defence skills into a reaction rather than a thought.

Juniors 9 to 13 Years
As our children grow they become physically stronger and mentally more determined to set their own goals and ACHIEVE THEM.  Our junior members are    invited to join our professional competition teams (Future Champions Squad) in both Poomsae (Traditional Patterns) and Olympic style sparring.  Some of our members have represented firstly themselves, family and friends then their club, their state and even their country overseas.  Our professional and experienced instructors have a great eye for scouting future champions and once identified will make the time to sit with both the student and their family to discuss the athletic possibilities.

Seniors 14 Years and above
For young adults this is one of the most stressful and demanding times in their lives.  Juggling the pressures of high school, part time jobs and new friendships.  Martial arts helps  balance their lives and gives back the feeling of reward and control as they begin to master some of the techniques being taught.  At the same time for adults, martial arts  provides an outlet for you to let go of your daily chores and do something challenging and rewarding for.  At this level we also introduce mixed martial arts training to complement the traditional Taekwondo training.  You will learn some basic skills from Hapkido, Boxing, Kick Boxing, Judo and Muay Thai to add that little extra.

Remember, life is not just about others and Taekwondo (and Martial Arts) is the ideal way to spend time on ourselves and improve our way of life.

Future Champions Squad (FCS)
The FCS team enables students (through an early identification program) to take their training to the next level and compete in competitions.  Members from the FCS team continue to challenge and push themselves to higher levels competing at State, National and International Championships, In fact the Academy's FCS team has represented Australia at the AYOF (Junior Olympics) and World Championships.  With over 200 National Championship medals and a number of international awards the FCS program can help bring the best out of the athlete and turn their dreams into reality.  We have both Poomsae (forms) and sparring teams as part of the FCS squad.

Extreme Martial Arts
XMA combines our martial arts skills with that of gymnastics to create movie like performances and out of this world demonstrations.  The team will work with some of the area's best chorographers, dancers, and gymnasts to combine create that ultimate performance.  Members will also have an opportunity to compete in competitions that are totally committed to developing Extreme Martial Arts on an international scale.

TAEKWONDO IN SCHOOLS

The Taekwondo Academy has been involved with the Australian Sports Commission and Department of Education since 2005 in the delivering of martial arts programs to schools as part of the AASC (Active After School Communities) mentoring program.  This program helps deliver the positive message of exercise to our children to safe, healthy and happy children.

We have also been involved with numerous schools PE (Physical Education) programs providing quality martial arts fitness training in place of the normal basic programs.  We have found the the children involved become more involved in the programs and gain a greater appreciation of themselves and others.
